The Courtauld Institute of Art, an independent college of the University of London, was founded in 1932 as the UK’s first university department devoted to the study of art. Today The Courtauld is a world-leading centre for the study of art history, conservation and curating. The Courtauld Gallery is one of London’s must-see art museums. The collection stretches from the early Renaissance into the 20th century and is particularly renowned for its unrivalled collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, including masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh and Gauguin and the largest collection of Cézannes in the UK.
